ABSTRACT:
A 10 page paper analyzing a quasiexperimental quantitative study of the effects of therapeutic massage on patient outcomes in patients hospitalized with cancer. The paper addresses validity, scientific rigor, sampling, ethics and other research concerns. The researchers have provided a study that is reliable and valuable, even though it is not large enough to be statistically significant. The results indicate that increased workloads for nurses that preclude the ability to provide therapeutic massage may create false economy when weighed against patient outcomes.
