A 15 page paper. People with Avoidant Personality Disorder hold a distorted view of themselves and the world. People with this personality disorder tend to fear and avoid different kinds of social interactions, even if it to their own detriment. There is no evidence that concludes a specific therapeutic approach is most effective with Avoidant Personality Disorder but both cognitive therapy and behavior therapy have been found to be beneficial. The essay explains what Avoidant Personality disorder is and it also explains each of these two therapeutic models.
