ABSTRACT:
This 5 page report discusses the world’s currency exchange rates in an article in “The Economist” entitled “Exchange rates: fix or float, sink or swim” (June 21, 1997). The arguments put forth in the article present a valid and accurate assessment of the fact that exchange rates may or may not work in the macroeconomic sense in encouraging precautionary or even healthy economic conditions.
