ABSTRACT:
A 6 page examination of two of the most important factors in Colorado’s economic history. The author contends that mineral and cattle have impacted Colorado economy to a greater degree than any other commodity or industry. The author outlines the evolution mining experienced in Colorado as well as the history of cattle ranching dating back to the Spanish Land Grants and the Mexican ceding of Colorado and other western lands to the United States.
