In three pages this paper analyzes the visual text of a Cyclops as conceptualized by animator Ray Harryhausen and described by Homer in Book IX of “The Odyssey.” The writer’s personal response to this visual text includes the relationship between the visual text and its subject matter, assesses how different textual elements either work together or against each other, and what cultural assumptions are reflected in the visual text.
