ABSTRACT:
A 3 page paper discussing means of measuring for quality. Measurement can be oriented toward function or financial results. In terms of function, the organization can assess product quality and reliability; it can assess the level of waste it generates in the production process; it can ask customers. The paper discusses benchmarking, gap analysis and six sigma as approaches to functional measurement. It concludes that organizations need to determine which metrics they will use and then use them to enhance competitive advantage rather than become too inwardly-focused. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
