ABSTRACT:
Social and Economic Values This 10 page paper considers the value in economic terms as well as social, political and cultural perspectives of different types of regeneration projects to develop tourist attractions and generate incomes for the locality. To illustrate this the examples of The Wigan Pier Experience, Wigan and the Lowry Centre, Leeds, are used. The paper considers why they may be successfully, and the role they play in a modern society, with the economic impact as a side effect of this success. This includes consideration of how the past is interpreted, social constructs and the value of alternate presentation methods. The bibliography cites 11 sources.
