ABSTRACT:
An 8 page book review that examines this autobiography. There are places throughout the world where war has become a way of life and human rights violations are the norm. The large-print, hardcover edition of Ishmael Beah's autobiography A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier explains on its back cover that it has been estimated that are roughly 300,000 children worldwide who have been commandeered into military services, fed drugs and issued AK47s. Traumatized and denied a childhood, these children are forced to commit horrendous acts. This is a global tragedy and Ishmael Beah was one of these children. His story is profound.
