A 14 page paper. Lieutenant General Harold (Hal) G. Moore led the first major American battle in Vietnam. He was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time. Moore’s 450 troops fought against 2,000 well-trained North Vietnamese troops for three days with constant artillery being fired. This essay provides brief biography of Moore, his military career, and how he led his men in Ia Drang. It also discusses some of Moore’s personal traits that were essential for his success.
