Millennium Challenge Account

Number of pages: 5

ABSTRACT:
5 pages in length. Of the most current United States humanitarian aid programs to have been implemented – and perhaps the most aggressive, as well – is the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), brought into official existence in March of 2002. According to this program, President Bush has allocated an additional annual amount of five billion dollars to be dispersed over the next three years toward the economic and living standards improvement of developing countries, which equates to an augmentation of fifty percent of what currently exists in the nation's core assistance program. The primary factor that separates the MCA from other financial assistance given to developing countries in the past is that each recipient must first qualify under some rather stringent prerequisites that prove the money will be put toward bettering the nation's dire situation rather than merely applying it to such issues that will only further its present and unacceptable social, economic and health conditions. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
