Scott Turow's "Presumed Innocent"
Number of pages:

ABSTRACT:
3 pages in length. The anticipation of never truly knowing who actually committed the murder until the very end of the book makes author Scott Turow's first literary attempt not only one of the most suspenseful legal thrillers ever written, but it also illustrates how things might not always be what they seem. Turow's special gift in Presumed Innocent is keeping his readers guessing as to whether Sabich is really the killer or has anything at all to do with the murder; that an uncomfortable amount of circumstantial evidence begins to pool around Sabich's feet gives the reader pause as to real his involvement. Indeed, knowing upfront he had an affair with the murdered Carolyn Polhemus immediately makes the reader suspicious of Sabich's ultimate connection, especially since the romance ended on a sour note; however, there is enough evidence in his favor to truly leave the reader undecided all the way until Turow reveals the killer.
