Understanding the many difficulties exceptional children may encounter when attempting everyday activities requires one to immerse oneself into the situation and actually experience the struggles inherent to this particular population and their impact upon the academic setting. Undertaking a common task from a disadvantageous perspective - such as making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the non-dominant hand - not only provides a significantly deeper insight to the basic challenges exceptional children experience in the classroom environment but also how to approach the aspect of inclusion with greater awareness and success.
