Singapore’s Economy and Government

Number of pages: 25

ABSTRACT:
A 25 page review of Singapore’s recent economic history that goes into more detail than the 20-page version. Singapore was one of the less-affected nations of the Asian currency crisis, but its growth still declined to just over 1 percent in 1998 and remained at that level in 1999. True to its nature, the government is taking active steps to promote business and to hasten the nation’s economic recovery. The paper discusses geographical attributes, quality of the labor force, participation by women and foreign nationals, labor relations, public finance, governmental structure and trade. It concludes that Singapore remains one of the most progressive of all the Asian nations. Two tables. Bibliography lists 17 sources.
