ABSTRACT:
A 41 page research paper. Americans are sleep-deprived and teenagers are suffering the most from this condition. Contrary to popular belief, teenagers need more sleep, not less sleep than younger children. This paper provides an executive summary; an introduction; a comprehensive discussion of sleep, including stags of sleep and the importance of each; circadian and other rhythms; research on sleep and memory and learning; discussion of teenagers and sleep; a solution - high schools changing their start time; and a conclusion. Data are included. Bibliography lists 17 sources.
