Sociological Theory: Understanding Transformation Of Religious Colleges To Fully Accredited Nondenominational Universities
Number of pages:

ABSTRACT:
3 pages in length. The waning presence of religious colleges in exchange for fully accredited universities that embrace little – if any – denominational connection is indicative of the path society is taking as a whole where religion is concerned. Applying the rational choice theory to this phenomenon illustrates how the social element of progress is fundamentally responsible, inasmuch as "all action is fundamentally 'rational' in character and that people calculate the likely costs and benefits of any action before deciding what to do" (Scott, 2000), which clearly represent the forces that have shaped the timing and direction of this monumental change.
