ABSTRACT:
The ad hoc special court of Sierra Leone is unique in the way it was set up and the remit for its’ operations. This 29 page paper looks at how this has resulted in a unique, positive culture that is able to cope with severe financial and operational constraints while seeking to deliver the far reaching goal of justice. The paper considers how the culture was developed looking at the formation of the values internationally and in Sierra Leone and the way that the values are realised with the creation of the court and its operation as well as the external symbols of culture such as robes and court procedures.
