ABSTRACT:
A 4 page overview of the manner in which this country’s role in the world has evolved over the last one-hundred years. The author notes that these changes can be related to economic factors as well as the social and cultural differences which exist not only between us and other countries but which also exist within the U.S. itself. By far the most important factor, however, has been our military strength, a strength which has been used time and time again to insure the perpetuation of democracy and capitalism.
