The United States was at the beginning of a period of tremendous change, change that was determined by numerous interrelated factors. The issues she was facing revolved around difficulties in Native American relations, the intricacies of Jacksonian Democracy, the strategics of westward expansion, and the ideology of Manifest Destiny.
