The Shortcomings of Our Democracy
Number of pages:
5
ABSTRACT:
A 5 page examination of the question of whether our government, essentially unchanged in its basic premises since the Declaration of Independence, has been effective in addressing the needs and desires of the people. The author asserts that while the mechanisms are in place for such an address, the government’s focus has unfortunately been that of the more powerful in our society and not of the common man. The author concludes that while democracy is a grand and glorious concept, it is a concept which still has some flaws. While we are, perhaps, better off than much of the rest of the world in regard to our political flexibility, even our great nation has a long way to go towards assuring true equality.
