The Sociology Of Death And Dying: Can People Be Socially Dead And Still Be Alive?
Number of pages:
14
ABSTRACT:
14 pages in length. To be alive in mind but not body; to be alive by no other means than artificial instruments; to be alive only by the grace of modern technology is not to be alive in the holistic sense of the word. People whose bodies or minds have ceased to function independent of one another can no longer take part in what their lives previously reflected; instead, they must assume an entirely different – and most often inferior – existence by which they are either bound to the stringent limitations of their affliction or so lacking any quality of life that they are no longer the social beings they once were. Bibliography lists 12 sources.
