ABSTRACT:
This 16 page paper examines the postal services industry in the UK with the use of an in-depth Porters Five Forces Analysis. The paper considers the Post Office or Royal Mail (including Parcel Force) as the major supplier, but also includes consideration of other delivery or courier companies such as DHL, FedEx, UPS and TNT. Following this in-depth analysis the paper then considers the way in which a marketing manager can hypothetically change or influence the determinants of each force in order to provide a more conducive competitive environment for companies in that sector or industry. The final part of the paper then looks at how a HRM manager and an operations manager may also influence these factors. The bibliography cites 20 sources.
