ABSTRACT:
This is a 7 page paper using the components of a SWOT analysis in regards to US Airways. US Airways similar to other airlines since the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, have recorded record losses which have led the company to file for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy however was not meant by the airline to finish the company but as one of the components of their new strategic plan in order to save the company. Using a SWOT analysis which examines the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the company shows that US Airways have used their strengths and opportunities within the last year to overcome their weaknesses and external threats. One of their largest strengths is their employee base which has supported the company in its cut-backs in order to preserve the company. The employee support comes from years of US Airways’ commitment to diversity and opportunities for their employees which in turn have turned out to be some of their greatest assets and of utmost importance when rebuilding the company.
