ABSTRACT:
This 12 page report discusses “The Journey to the West,” a novel of China written approximately four hundred years ago. As a religious pilgrim, Tripitaka, makes his way to the Western Paradise, he is accompanied by the Monkey King, Pigsy, sandy and the dragon horse. Together, they encounter numerous calamities and adventures. While the story may appear to simply be a Chinese fairytale, it is, in reality, a report on both a spirtual quest, as well as a commentary on the sate of the world of China in the 16th century.
